Another month and another addition to the Singstar franchise, this time in the form of Boy Bands vs Girl Bands, don’t be fooled though, this isn’t just a fight between Spice Girls and Five, because there are some rather big hitters from the past on the disc too.
Boy Bands vs Girl Bands uses the usual interface that anyone who has ever played Singstar on the PS2 before will instantly recognise, sure it doesn’t look as good as the PS3 version but it still does what matters and that is to provide a very entertaining game with a belter of a tracklist.

Tracks included on the disc range from classics such as Bananarama’s “Love in the First Degree”, The Bangles “Eternal Flame”, East 17’s “Stay Another Day” to more modern day songs such as the catchy Busted track “What I Go To School For”, Five’s “Get On Up and of course not forgetting The Spice Girls with “Say you’ll Be There”. It really is a rather impressive line-up which includes a wide range of songs to cater for both parents and their children.
There is no doubt that everyone will know the songs included on the disc, even if they don’t want to admit to it. As usual all of the original videos are present accompanied with the lines of the song scrolling along the bottom during play, so using the “I forgot the lines” excuse to get out of singing along is not going to happen, no matter how much you protest.
When it comes to Singstar, Sony just keep pulling the hits out of the bag and packing them firmly on yet another classic disc, Boy Bands vs Girl Bands is probably one of the best yet and is one I would highly recommend to all of the crooners out there.
