Sony like to look after their users, even if they don’t have access to the internet, so to keep this trend going the company have put together three of the best Playstation Network puzzle games and crammed them onto one UMD.
The Playstation Network Puzzle pack consists of the classic game Lemmings as well as more the recent Go Sudoku and Go Puzzle.
Lemmings of course explains itself, Controlling an army of green haired characters, the aim is to get as many of the Lemmings as you can from entrance to exit within the time limit. To do this you will require to make use of your unique Lemmings, such as the exploding Bomber, The gliding Floater, The Digger and The Basher all of whom will help you to negotiate the games obstacles. While this game is fairly simple to begin with it isn’t long before you are scratching your head trying to figure out what to do next. Also included on this version of the game is a level editor which allows you to create your own levels and then upload them for other users to play. Lemmings is a classic game and the graphics on this version have been lovingly improved to meet the needs of this generation.

Next up is Go Sudoku, a take on the number puzzle game, for those who don’t know Sudoku is a brain teaser, this takes the guise of a large square filled with nine 3×3 boxes, each of these must be filled with the numbers 1 through 9. The hard part is finding the solution for each puzzle based on whatever preset numbers have been placed in the boxes, none of the numbers you place in the empty squares may be repeat in the same horizontal or vertical column, hope I’ve explained that ok, it sounds complicated but once you get the hang of it, then it’s not too bad. As well as looking great on the PSP with it’s spruced up grids, Go Sudoku includes quite a few game modes to play, including a single player, multiplayer and wireless mode. Go Sudoku is a perfect game to get your brain ticking and it’s also the perfect companion when travelling.
Also included on the disc is Go Puzzle, offering a slightly less brain busting challenge than Go Sudoku, this game offers three puzzles in one. First up there is Aquatica, which is a twist on the classic Tetris, basically Multi-coloured mines fall from the top of the screen and start filling the space at the bottom of the screen, the only difference here is that you match the shapes by lining them up in either vertical or in diagonal lines. The next puzzle included is Swizzle Blocks which has you rotating the multi-coloured blocks in order to blow them up and earn points, simple stuff but again very addictive. Last but not least is Skyscraper, which sees you trying to climb to the top of a puzzle tower by following the same coloured squares on each floor, this may sound easy but given that you have a time limit and the towers grow in height with each level it can become very tricky. Each of the games in Go Puzzle look great and are packed with extra features and play modes, it wouldn’t be wrong of Sony to release this game on its own because it is great fun and very addictive.
The Puzzle Pack is a disc crammed with games and it is well worth the £12.99 that is being asked for it. Go Puzzle alone is worth the asking price, so for anyone who loves their puzzles this is probably one of the best UMD’s you will pick up this year.
8/10 for Sheer Value
